The King and Queen of Bavaria in Zamdorf (a District of Munich, Germany) on July 4, 1916
"On July 4, 1916, the owners had the great honor of being graced with the highest-ranking visitors, the King and Queen of Bavaria as well as Princess Wiltrude, in the factory in Zamdorf. Their Highnesses watched the cans being produced with the greatest of interest and it was with expert skill that they visited the gardens, the test fields, and the facilities for mushroom cultivation. At the end, a light meal was taken, consisting of the company’s own products, which their Highnesses deigned to give their full appreciation."[1]
This visit was a special event for the Eckart family. King Ludwig III of Bavaria not only had a special personal interest in agriculture, but also emphasized, through his visit, the importance of the fruit juice and canning factory "Johannes Eckart Fruchtsäfte & Conservenfabrik" for the war economy.
