Zurück an der TU in München schloss er sein Studium im Jahr 1900 mit Diplom ab. Dem Studium der Landwirtschaft folgten noch drei Semester Chemie an der Universität in Rostock. Seit seiner Zeit als Student war Otto Mitglied der Studentenverbindung Akademischer Chemiker Verein, des Münchener Ruderclubs in Starnberg und aktiv im [[Special:MyLanguage/Das Kaufmanns-Casino|Kaufmanns-Casino]] und dessen Jugendorganisation „Fidelitas“. Hier, im Kaufmanns-Casino lernte er seine zukünftige Ehefrau, [[Special:MyLanguage/Anita Hoppe (Da VIII 23)|Anita Hoppe]], kennen. In dieser Zeit begann er auch in der [[Special:MyLanguage/Johs.
